Oscar de la Hoya Dreams Of Losing His Teeth

Here’s my take on Oscar de la Hoya’s recent submission to Lauren Lawerence.

The Dream

“Several years ago I dreamt that slowly but surely, little by little, I was starting to lose my teeth, one by one. What does this mean?”

-Oscar de la Hoya, 1992 Olympic boxing gold medalist, world boxing champion, Los Angeles

DreamBible.com’s Interpretation

Losing your teeth in a dream is almost always a reflection of insecurities related to a loss of status, physical appearance, or aging.  Confidence about personal power is being lost.

If Oscar de la Hoya has dreamed of slowly losing his teeth it most likely reflects his feelings about losing status as a champion.  Seeing other younger fighters coming up and being noticed more, or the awareness of himself knowing he can’t perform as well as he used to.  Ageing or fears of not being unable to perform as good as he has in the past are probably the dream is mostly pointing to.

Oksana Baiul’s Dream

I’d like to post my own take on a recent dream posted by Lauren Lawrence on her online column at nydailynews.com.

The Dream

Many years ago, just days after I met a man who would become my fiancé at that time, I dreamt I was standing in my bedroom near the window. I noticed that my upper arms had these vertical cuts. I saw blood pouring and going down the fingers and then drop by drop falling on the floor. Please interpret this dream.

-Oksana Baiul, 1994 Olympic figure skating gold medalist, world champion, Philadelphia

DreamBible.com’s Interpretation

The entire dream reads like a metaphor about Oksana fearing losing strength or vitality in her life as this relationship moves forward.  The bedroom reflects her private thoughts about her personal life and this relationship.  Looking out the window symbolizes Oksana considering the future and what may come if she pursues this relationship.

Arms in dreams reflect our reach or ability to achieve.  The upper arm is your power to achieve goals.  Blood loss in dreams reflects a loss of vitality, power, or strength.

Since Oksana Baiul was in the highly competitive field of figure skating and probably under the the constant pressure to achieve gold, I’d say this dream is actually reflecting her fear of this relationship distracting her and making her less capable of being totally focused for a gold metal.   The dream appears to be a sign that she fears this relationship weakening her chances to achieve at the highest levels.  Something people in her line of work commonly experience with the intense pressure of having to perform perfect in front the entire world.

Dream Of Breathing Underwater

Background Information

The dreamer’s parent’s got divorced and they are living with their mother and step father.  They feel sad a lot about the divorce.

The Dream

“i had a dream that i was in an empty pool breathing underwater. it was a very short dream but it was very peaceful and it felt real.  what does it mean??”

The Interpretation

Water in dreams almost always represents uncertainty or a negative emotional state (Except when drinking it). A swimming pool reflects control over this state. If you are underwater it probably means that you feel that your entire life overwhelmed by the the divorce, but generally find life stable.

In your case the pool symbolizes the uncertainty or negative emotions of the divorce that you have gotten used to. The sadness you’ve become accustomed to.  Being underwater reflects how you feel your entire life is centred around the sadness you feel for the changes the divorce had caused.

The dream may be a sign that you may need to find ways to get your mind off things. Perhaps try a few new things or get out of the house more.  Perhaps, even discussing your feelings with your parents may help as they may be able to give you insight into their feelings as well.

Dreamed Of No Water Being Left In The World

Background Information

The dreamer is having a very difficult time at school and is failing.  They also have a friend that they’ve just found out is a heroine addict.

The Dream

I had a dream last night that the water in the world was all dried up. All of the water except the oceans was dried up and gone. Then a news report came on and said the oceans completely dried up.

The Interpretation

The dream sounds like a refection of your feeling about hope for the future drying up.  While water in dreams usually reflects uncertainty, in your case this total lack of water seems to reflect an inability to rejuvenate.  At first you feel there is still potential, but then something happened that made you feel that there is nothing left for you to help you restore stability to your life.  Perhaps, your friends drug addiction has helped to dampen your last bit of enthusiasm.

The dream  may be a sign that you are being a little too pessimistic and may need to start being more focused on your priorities.  It may also be a sign that you need to reach out to others for assistance and remove yourself from the vicinity of any negative influences.  If you are young and still in school it may be a good idea to isolate yourself from people that are doing drugs so they’re bad choices don’t influence you.

Why Can’t I Dream Of My Deceased Mother?

Question

I am trying to find out why I am NOT dreaming about my mom who passed away. She passed away just about a year ago. She lived with me and we were very close she died of breast cancer and well I wasn’t quite expecting her to go as fast as she did. I was lucky enough to have her home with me and was with her when she took her last breath. Unfortunately for me the month prior I was very stressed and upset with her taking so many pain meds and well have had a lot of regretful memories with my attitude towards her. Although I was able to tell her how much I love her and was able to apologize, she wasn’t very responsive towards the end. I was hoping that I was going to see her in my dreams and that I would at least be able to see her there and talk with her. And well I am not dreaming of her at all and it’s almost disappointing. I want her to come to me in my dreams I almost feel like I can’t get closure because she’s not coming to me there. It’s hard with her gone. Does anyone know what it means to not dream of someone you were so very close to?

Answer

Dreams don’t generally work that way. They mostly reflect what it is you are thinking or offer insight into a problem you’re having. If you aren’t having a real problem confronting her death then it’s less likely she would ever show up in your dreams.  If you want to increase the chances of having a dream of her I recommend that you try to except her passing completely and stop focusing on the act of dreaming of her. Simply want what’s best for her.

On top of this you may want to take a few vitamins such as vitamin b5, vitamin b6, or choline to try to enhance the liklihood that you’ll dream at all. It may also increase your dream length and recall which may make it easier for you to remember dreaming of her if you already are and simply can’t remember.

Dream Of My Girlfriend Falling Off A Pedestal

Background Information

The dreamer has encouraged their girlfriend to succeed in their career for most of the duration of their relationship.  However,  now that they want a family the relationship is beginning to fall apart.  The girlfriend doesn’t want to give up her career.

The Dream

“I helped her climb onto a pedestal for a statue. When I asked her to raise her hand higher she fell off. I was paralyzed with fear at not being able to stop it.”

The Interpretation

Encouraging your girlfriend to stand on a pedestal as a statue represents you noticing yourself supporting your girlfriend as she thrives and makes a name for herself.  You are enjoying watching her become respectable and successful.

Your girlfriend falling off the pedestal after asking her to raise her hand higher reflects your feelings about your relationship failing due to your girlfriend rejecting your dreams of seeing her as a perfect mother.  You begin to feel fear when she falls off the pedestal because you fear losing everything you have built in this relationship.  You may be in disbelief that she would be so concerned with her career after supporting her through the years.  You wanted to admire her as an amazing wife and mother and feel your goals have pushed her away.

The dream is a sign that you need have a more serious discussion with your girlfriend about your feelings about making a family.

Dream Of Yellow Bubblegum

Background Information

The dreamer’s ex-boyfriend is spreading malicious rumours.

The Dream

“I take my son to a wrestling match for fun…the hall was small with empty seats but i wanted to buy tickets for the event..theres this badboy looking young man sitting behind me and keeps throwing something at me…i look around and notice a yellow bubble gum stuck on my chair..i see it and feel revolted by it… so i take my son and sit elsewhere…this man then follows me and again sits behind me and this time throws the same gum at my sons head…it gets caught in my sons hair..and i know that it will hurt my son when i remove it..i pull the gum out only slightly hurting him..and then I turn behind and grab the mans fingers and pull them back…as im doing so..he starts screaming..the more i pull..his screams get louder and louder..i wake up…in my mind i remember thinking…if i hurt him too much then he might do worse.”

The Interpretation

It looks to me like the dream is a perfect reflection of your feelings about this ex and the rumours.

The bubblegum may reflect your feelings about your other people enjoying themselves “chewing” on your rumours or feeling good repeating the rumours. And since hair reflects our thinking style then you seeing this gum being a problem to get out in the dream may reflect your concern that you can’t stop the rumours. You don’t like how difficult it is to quash them or stop hearing people reminding you about them.

Dream Of Dead Cornfield In The Waves?

Background Information

The dreamer has moved to a new city and is feeling lonely.  A lot of the hopes they had for their new life in the new city have been dashed by the boredom of being home alone most of the day and unable to meet new friends.

The Dream

“I dreamed that I was on a pier looking at the ocean (or gulf, I’m from the Gulf Coast) and under the water, swaying with the movement of the water, was a dead cornfield. It was as if a person had planted it at low tide and the waves rolled in over it. The waves broke further so it wasn’t in the surf. The tops of the stalks were above the waves. In the dream it was “known” or rumored that a homeless man built the cornfield.

What could this signify? Thank you for the help!”

The Interpretation

The dream seems like it’s reflecting your disappointment or sadness about all the potential that you felt Boston held for you that’s coming to an end. You are settling in, the excitement is gone, and life is becoming normal. All the big change is over and now life goes on.

The pier I think reflects your thoughts about the future or things you are waiting to happen. The cornfield represents the abundance of change and opportunity you expected in the future.  You thought there was going to be so much fun an opportunity all the time if you moved.  It’s dead because you aren’t making friends and you are staying at home a lot. The water crashes over this to symbolize your feelings of uncertainty about what life has to offer you.

I take the dream as a sign that you need to make time to get out more and ensure that you aren’t walking away from some of the plans you had before you moved to Boston. If you had goals or dreams for Boston than do your best to ensure that they happen.

Dreamed That A Bird Flew Into Fondue And Died??

Background Information

The dreamer has just reconciled their relationship with an ex-girlfriend. The girlfriend was with another man sexually while they took a break in their relationship.

The Dream

Had a really bizarre, vivid dream the other night – I was having cheese fondue (which was scalding hot) and out of nowhere comes this tiny little bird (type of bird is unknown, but it was tiny) and the bird flies right into the cheese fondue. It starts panicking and flapping it’s wings to try and get out of this scalding hot fondue, and I’m now freaking out, trying to figure out how the heck I can help get this poor bird out of there without burning myself in the process. So I scrambled to get a few spoons to scoop it out with, and by the time I got back to the fondue, the bird had died and lay motionless in there. That is when I woke up – it creeped me right out, and I felt really disturbed by it. Anybody have an idea of what this means??? Thank you!

The Interpretation

The dream sounds like you are having issues accepting the fact that your girlfriend was with another man sexually while you were on a break.

The cheese symbolizes your feeling of profiting socially because you are getting your old girlfriend back for a sexual relationship and the fondue symbolizes your feeling that both you and another man have enjoyed your girlfriend sexually. Fondue reflects group sharing or group pleasure.

Birds in dreams reflect freedom or overcoming problems.   In your case the bird probably reflects you overcoming the breakup or no longer being without sex.  If a bird dies in the fondue it is probably a sign that although you feel rewarded sexually in getting back with your girlfriend the thought of being with her after another man has been with her may be overcoming you emotionally with insecurity. You want to carefully get the bird out of the fondue without burning yourself perhaps because it symbolizes you wanting to return yourself as the dominant sexual partner without treading on any details about the former lover that might hurt your self-esteem or make the relationship uncomfortable.

You fail in the end of the dream to save the bird because you probably find it too difficult to get over the fact that she was with someone else. Being with her sexually just doesn’t feel the same.

Dream Of Being Superman In A Forest

Background Information

The dreamer has graduated from University and is looking for work.

The Dream

Basically I’m in a forest with huge trees (bigger then redwoods) searching for something, I don’t remember what all I know is that the trees were the key. The kicker is that I am superman and I have Louis Lane with me so as I’m flying around searching, the trees start attacking and basically start trying to trap us in the forest. I wake up just as I attempt to fly between two trunks closing an exit.

The Interpretation

The dream sounds like it’s reflecting your feelings about your superior capabilities with your degree (superman) as you confront confusion about how to get a job and pay your bills (forest).  Superman may also reflect your attempt to use your superior skills to “save the day” as you face the prospect of mounting financial concerns.   The trees trying to attack you as you try to fly may reflect your money concerns or potential employers rejecting you and attacking your confidence as you try assert yourself in life with your educational background.

The dream sounds like you are doing everything you can to get your foot in the door and just need to hang in there.
